Week 9: Tuesday - Long run
So long
Totally didn’t want to run today. After Saturday’s hills and yesterday’s speed stuff, I felt knackered in my quads and calves. But the calendar is relentless. Yet again, thank goodness it’s deload week.
Long run - 9km easy
I have so, so little to say about this. Cold morning but not too bad. 9km averaging 5:41/km moving, 5:49/km elapsed. The bonus 72 seconds were a consequence of stopping:
- for traffic, after the level crossing came up
- to let someone reverse out of their driveway
- because children were taking up the whole path and it wasn’t safe to get in the road
- to do my shoelaces up, which I can’t recall having doing mid-run for years
- due to yet more hound interrogation
Didn’t feel anything like as easy as 5:41/km should. I went way faster than this in the Vitality 10km in September, before I started the training plan and that was on the back of being horribly ill for a week. Hell, my first run of the whole plan was 10km – having just got back from a boozy holiday – and on that day I managed 5:38/km.
Trusting the process is getting increasingly difficult.
